Abstract

Fats are a vital part of human nutrition and play a key role in normal body functions. They serve as a major energy reserve, especially during fasting or extended physical activity. Besides energy production, fats provide essential fatty acids, help form cell membranes, aid in the production of certain hormones, and assist in absorbing fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K. Fat metabolism encompasses all the biochemical reactions that involve the digestion, absorption, transport, storage, and use of fats by the body to fulfil energy and structural needs.
