Individualized Homeopathic Management of Patchy Hair Loss in a 3-Year-Old Male: A Case Report

Case Presentation

A 3-year-old male child presented with patchy hair loss of approximately 1 month duration. The affected areas were documented over the scalp, particularly the temporal and parietal regions. The scalp was described as mildly itchy, with occasional scratching. Hair fall was particularly noticed during combing by his mother.

The child was born full term and had normal developmental milestones. He was attending a local play school. According to his mother, he was a very sensitive, intelligent and quick-to-grasp child, with a mild and gentle disposition. He was described as reserved, introverted and friendly mainly with a few close people. Although he sometimes knew the answer, he would remain quiet. He was obedient and generally followed instructions.

The physical-general assessment documented a decreased thirst, preference for chicken, chocolates and cold drinks, chilly thermal state, preference for thick covering, profuse scalp perspiration and approximately six hours of restful sleep. The documented constitutional prescription was Silicea, selected as the core constitutional remedy.
