Abstract

Alopecia areata is a non-scarring, localized hair-loss disorder that may have a significant psychological impact, particularly in young individuals. A 23-year-old female presented with a localized, round, coin-sized patch of hair loss over the vertex of the scalp for 2 months, associated with itching. The onset of hair loss was reported following a period of prolonged grief. The case was assessed through detailed clinical and homoeopathic case-taking, including mental and physical generals and associated complaints. Based on the totality of symptoms, Natrum muriaticum was prescribed in the 200C potency, followed by placebo, with subsequent management according to the clinical response. During follow-up, progressive regrowth of hair and increased hair density over the previously affected area were observed, with satisfactory restoration of the scalp appearance at the final follow-up. No adverse effects were reported during the documented treatment period. This case illustrates the clinical course of a patient with alopecia areata receiving individualized homoeopathic treatment.
