Abstract

Oral mucocele is a common benign cystic lesion of the oral cavity arising from extravasation or retention of mucus due to trauma to minor salivary glands. The global prevalence of oral mucocele ranges between 2–8 per 1,000 individuals, most commonly affecting the lower lip, and frequently interfering with mastication, speech, and oral hygiene. Conventional management largely relies on surgical excision, laser ablation, or intralesional therapies, all of which carry risks of recurrence, scarring, and patient apprehension. Homeopathy offers a holistic, individualized, and non-invasive alternative based on totality of symptoms and constitutional assessment.

This paper presents a detailed classical homeopathic case study of a 27-year-old businessman with a persistent oral mucocele of the inner lower lip, present for one month, causing repeated trauma while eating, anxiety regarding malignancy, and significant impact on quality of life. Prior consultations in other pathies suggested surgery if conservative management failed, which heightened the patient’s fear and distress. The case was approached using classical homeopathic principles, with emphasis on life-space exploration, mental generals evolving from childhood, physical generals, local pathology, and miasmatic background.

case highlights the role of individualized homeopathy in managing oral mucoceles non-surgically and demonstrates a clear clinical transformation achieved at Dr Batra’s Homeopathy Clinic after failure and apprehension with other treatment approaches.
