Abstract

Background: Mucormycosis is a fungal infection caused by class Zygomycetes. The infection is common in immunocompromised individuals and in patients with diabetes mellitus, hematological malignancy, solid organ transplants and corticosteroid therapy. The aim of this study is to do a short review on mucormycosis and also focuses on the cause of mucormycosis in COVID 19 along with the Homoeopathic guidelines put forward by AYUSH on its management.

Methods: A review is conducted on the available literature on Mucormycosis to know about the incidence, causative agents, pathogenesis, clinical forms, diagnosis and the guidelines of AYUSH for its management

Conclusion: Mucormycosis is an opportunistic infection in COVID 19 mostly affecting the patients suffering from uncontrolled Diabetes Mellitus and those who are under steroid therapy.
